An IHVS Teaser from Ashley’s Diary: Trevor Proposed Today

I ran into Trevor today after having lunch with his precious mother, Miz Hope. He asked me to marry him again, and he even told me he would wait forever it necessary. As flattering as that is, I’m hesitant to commit my life to a man who seems to be swayed by the world around him. Of course, I told him that I couldn’t marry him because of what I know about his playboy lifestyle. I guess time will tell whether he is genuine or not. In the meantime, I’m going to concentrate on the next step in my fulfilling my pledge with Pastor Harter by reading my Bible everyday.

Help me, Lord… you know I love Trevor, but I love you most of all.

Let me help YOU return to the Bible

Our world has a tendency to pull believers away from a life that is pleasing and holy to God. Good jobs, nice cars, and polished images can easily blind us to the needs of others. Our church found this to be the case following the needless death of the oldest child of a transient family. The event so profoundly moved me that I challenged the members of First Church Kingston to a simple yet profound pledge:

To take no action without first asking ‘What Does the Bible Say?’ and upon discovering the answer to that question, to act in that manner regardless of the personal impact the answer may impose upon myself.

The result of that pledge has been nothing short of miraculous; the only way to explain it is that we have been walking in the very footsteps of Jesus.

You can read our complete story in the forthcoming book, In His Very Steps: What Does the Bible Say, or via our online blog at http://ihvs.wordpress.com where our members will periodically post some of the trials and blessings they have faced over the course of our pledge year.

If you would like to learn more about the our In His Very Steps Pledge, or if you would like us to pray for you in the very real struggles you may be facing, drop me a note… I will reply as soon as possible.
