I know it’s not that big of a deal but it’s special to me. Thanks to so many of my friends on Facebook, the IHVS Facebook page (www.facebook.com/InHisVerySteps) reached the 100 LIKES. As best I can tell, Janice Boles of North Charleston was the 100th person to make it possible. A special thank you goes out to her but I am extremely thankful for each and everyone of you who helped me reach this minor milestone. For her part, I’m sending Miz Janice a signed copy of In His Very Steps: What Does the Bible Say? I trust she will enjoy it.

Three Win the Gift of IHVS Book One

Al with his beautiful wife, Beth.

Hello and Merry Christmas to all! Allow me to extend my heartfelt congratulations to not one, not two, but three winners of In His Very Steps: What Does the Bible Say? Actually, two winners were selected and one oversight is being corrected.

First of all, congratulations to Al Smith and Sue Krupp who were drawn from the list of list of entries to win a free copy of my book. Al is the Pastor of Pinecrest Baptist Church here in beautiful Charleston. He is also a graduate of the University of Georgia and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Aside from that, he is one of the kindest and most loveable men I know.

Sue is a Texas bell born in Humble but is now living in Dallas. It appears that she is busy homeschool teacher and that enjoys cooking — yum! Sue is also my kind of woman in that she likes research — way to go, Sue!

Finally, I want to acknowledge an oversight on my part by recognizing my long-time friend Carmen Campbell of Florence, S.C. Those who already have a copy of my book may recognize her name from the book’s forward. That’s because Carmen was the VERY FIRST person to read chapters 1 and 2 when I began writing the story of Jim Harter more than 10 years ago. Anyone that enjoys the story of First Church Kingston owes Carmen a debt of gratitude. Her encouragement motivated me to continue writing when I would have otherwise given up. I promised Carmen a copy of the book when it was finished but I totally forgot to mail her that copy. I’ll correct that oversight when the post office opens in the morning.

Once again, I love giving away this work of the Lord. I have to say that because I honestly could not have written this without His guidance and presence in my life. So for all of you who did not win I have two announcements. First, I’ll be sending each of you who entered a coupon for 15% off the book. Maybe you will find it in your heart to not only buy one for yourself but for a friend or family members whom you would like to encourage. Second, I will be giving away one copy of my book weekly beginning in January. The key to winning will be your participation on my blog (www.ihvsbooks.com). Everytime you like a post, comment on a post, etc. you will entered to win. The person who’s name shows up the most on my blog reports for the week will win a copy of the book.

Well, that’s it for now. I sincerely hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and a safe but enjoyable New Year. I really do love you all — because Jesus loves me and I love Him.

I love hearing from you. Drop me a note or prayer request at mail@ihvsbooks.com. Remember, I’m working on book two now. Please pray for me and that project.

Another Chance to Win “In His Very Steps”

A few weeks ago I promised to give away a few more copies of my new book, In His Very Steps: What Does the Bible Say? I heard from several people who received copies around Thanksgiving who are enjoying the book. For my part, I think I’m receiving the greater blessing. Here’s how this contest will work…

Between now and December 24, I plan to give away five copies of the book to those who:

The Real Meaning Of Christmas

It’s beginning to look a LOT like Christmas – and if you are like me, you’re filled with joy. Unfortunately, the secular world appears to have lost sight of the real meaning behind my most beloved holiday.

What is the real meaning of Christmas? Is it the gifts under the tree, the lights in the windows, the cards in the mail, turkey dinners with family and friends, snow in the yard (or not!), stockings hanging in the living room, and shouts of “Merry Christmas” to those who pass us in the streets? Is this really Christmas? No, it’s not.

For many people, Christmas is a time of sorrow. A time when the reality of not having extra money to buy presents for their children, family, and friends is overwhelming. Others suffer a measure of depression when they recall memories of loved ones who have passed away, or will not be able to come home for various reasons. Turkey dinners may be only a wish — not a reality.

Most Expensive Copy of IHVS

I heard a funny today which I have to share. My dear friend and former congregant, Fred McLean, visited Family Christian in the Citadel Mall to buy a copy of my book. At the register he was stunned when the price rang up as $100. The man behind him said, “brother, that must be a GREAT book!”

Thanks to everyone who is taking the time to buy this heartfelt work of faith. Glory to God in the Highest!

Merry Christmas!

P.S. The price WAS A MISTAKE… it’s only $12.95 when ordered here.
