A well-prepared portfolio provides “evidence” to an employer of your accomplishments, skills, abilities and it documents the scope and quality of your experience and training. It is an organized collection of documentation that presents both your personal and professional achievements in a concrete way.

Background

I wasn’t always gray around the temples, but I’ve always had a baby-face. In fact, I born in the small town of Hartsville, South Carolina, where I was loved and worked hard: in my parent’s paint and hardware store, on the family vineyard, and as a stock clerk at Winn-Dixie — a local grocery store. After graduating from The Citadel, The Military Collage of South Carolina, I served as a commissioned officer in United States Navy for more than five years. Three of my four children were born during those formative years. Later, I started a computer consulting business serving Fortune 500 clients, the U.S. Government, and numerous small businesses. It was during that time that my fourth child was born.

I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior following a church hayride in 1974. I surrendered to God’s call to Pastoral ministry in 1991, and have served as a Christian educator and pastor in Kentucky and South Carolina for more than 16 years. In fact, between the Navy, my business, and the ministry, my wife and I have moved 11 times in our 25+ years of marriage.

In addition to a Bachelor’s of Science from The Citadel, I hold a Masters of Divinity degree from The Southern Baptist Theology Seminary, and a Doctor of Education from Walden University.

In addition to my first novel, “In His Very Steps” my published works include almost two-dozen journal and magazine articles, and I’ve contributed to three other books.

With the Lord’s help, and more than 10 years of on and off-again writing, my first book reflects many of the highs and lows of my life. It’s only by God’s grace that today I enjoy the peace that comes with having four children, two hyper-active dogs, one very loved black cat, and the unwavering promise of life everlasting.

Published Works

I have been blessed to have published more than two-dozen articles in national magazines and state papers (on a variety of Christian topics). Most recently, I’ve published my first-full length novel and I’m currently working on book two. Click here for a complete list of my published works.

    Hello Charles,
Thank you for visiting my blog — I have enjoyed visiting yours, as well! My grandfather served in the Navy during WWII, on the U.S.S. Thatcher. And we have TWO hyperactive black cats! I wish you all the best of God’s blessings as you continue in your writing.
    Cheers!

    Hi, Charles

This is a wonderful site! I’m glad to see you’ve moved God’s word onto a medium in which so many negative and Godless things are posted to corrupt us. I have a friend in Kansas you might like to meet. His name is Glen Averill and this is his website: http://www.thesourceofjoy.org/ . (That’s his book title too.) Please feel free to leave a message on my FB page anytime, and visit my other sites as well.
